We went on our first camping trip in Colorado, which was also our first trip without one or the other of our parents. Don't get me wrong, we did have a good time. BUT, that being said, oh my gosh! We only went for one night, which I had thought was a good idea. First trip, short and sweet, break us in just a little. Yeaah, camping is A LOT of work weather you go for one night or three! I am going to go out on a limb and say it is not worth the work for only one night. We spent more time loading and unloading than we did anything else! Not to mention, I managed to leave home without my camera, so I don't have any pictures! I did mention that we DID have a good time, right?
Monday morning we loaded the car with Aaron's 22"s, BB guns and headed for the "grasslands" The girls were a little bit skeptical when we told them what we had planned for the day. We still lived in Idaho, and they were little the last time we went out. When we got there, you could see Aaron start to get excited. They were so funny to watch aim with their little visor on. It looked so awkward, yet they were hitting the box, so they must have been doing something right. It was cute watch them all walk out to check their marks on the targets, very serious stuff! Eli was a champ and just hung out, the noise didn't seem to bother him. Syd did have a good time I promise-though she looks quite the contrary sitting in the back of the Durango. Before we left, we filled a walmart bag with other peoples shot gun shells and still didn't get it all. I can't believe how lazy and uncaring some people are. Aaron was happy to see his little girls enjoy something that he has such fond memories of himself as a boy.

No need for limbs - if you're going to go for one night you might as well make it two or more - the amount of "stuff" you need is the same.
Looks like y'all had a good time on the grasslands. It's great that you're getting out and establishing new memories as a family.
Those girls are getting SO grown up! Toting guns and shooting things...look out boys!
Yeah, if I'm going to prep for camping it is going to be for several days or why bother.
You make me laugh. I'm really glad you DID have a good time in spite of all the work.
You must have been stressed to forget your camera!
Girls toting guns! Look out. How fun for them. I is nice that Aaron is sharing that with the girls. Definitely if you pack to camp it should be for more than one night. It IS alot of prep/clean-up work for just one night. Glad it was fun though. I hate it too when I forget my camera!
We just got back from a one nighter, as well. We had the same discussion...might as well stay 2 or 3....finding those 2 or 3 days is the trick :)
Looks like the girls had fun shooting at those targets! Eli is so cute....just hanging out...go'in wherever they take me :)
Yeah for good memories!
